ABOUT US

The Backdrop was founded by Dom Bryant and James Harris, and they are supported by a network of designers, musicians, artists, researchers and producers.

We use media to provoke discussion, inspire action and connect people. We are passionate about creating innovative, challenging content for humanitarian and social causes in a world where media affects our daily lives ever more.

We produce short films, documentaries and web content for partners and for social publication. We believe that when communicating about causes it is essential to have a knowledge base to work from in order to produce content responsibly, and as such we always work with research partners and brands that share our goals and can support our work.

We have created content for All Hands Volunteers, Make a Wish Foundation, Compassion UK, British Red Cross, Freedom From Torture, Animals Australia, La Trobe University, The 4C Art Project and Himalayan Animal Rescue Trust, as well as producing our own content.

James came to media production through studying film and working as a freelancer in that industry. His films have screened at numerous festivals across Europe, including Cannes and Berlin cinemusic, as well as a number of UK festivals. Norah Smile which screened at Cannes was produced by the now Bafta nominated Kamilla Hodol. His time in Australia lead him to a greater understanding of media production for causes, and the power of corporate social responsibility, and he is adept at media conceptualising and strategy as well as production.

Dom studied journalism and has written for local and national papers in the UK, often utilising his ability to produce great video content for his stories. His focus on video production and his desire to put it to a cause lead to him working on the All Hands Volunteers marketing team, and then into producing his own content.
